First Corporation to Run for Congress Comes to Dartmouth Tuesday 2-8-11

First Stop on Murray Hill Inc’s Pre-Presidential Listening Tour

Murray Hill Inc., the Maryland corporation that rocked the political establishment with its 2010 campaign for Congress in Maryland’s 8th Congressional District, is announcing the next step in its trailblazing effort at an appearance at Dartmouth College on Tuesday, February 8, 2011.  Campaign Manager William Klein and Designated Human Eric Hensal will appear at the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center on the college campus at 7:00 PM.

The presentation will include the story of the campaign’s origins in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision in the Citizens United v. Federal Elections Commission case, the reception that the campaign received from the public, the political establishment and the media, the lessons the campaign learned from the 2010 experience, and the serious underpinnings of what some interpreted as political satire.

Hensal and Klein will also announce at Dartmouth that Murray Hill Inc. is forming an exploratory committee to consider a candidacy for President in the 2012 New Hampshire Republican Primary.

“When the Supreme Court enshrined the supremacy of corporations over ‘bodied humans’ in our political system, some felt that this was far as this important civil rights struggle could go,” Murray Hill Inc. said in a statement.  “But Murray Hill Inc. has a broader vision.”

“After a challenge to the leader of the forces of anti-corporate bigotry in the U.S. Congress, the author of the so-called ‘Disclose Act,’ Rep. Chris Van Hollen,” Murray Hill Inc. said, “We’re ready to take our message of unchecked, unregulated and unstoppable corporate power to the national stage.”

Murray Hill Inc is the first corporation in U.S. history to run for Congress, following the Supreme Court's Citizens' United ruling.  The campaign garnered national and international publicity, including a front-page story in the Washington Post, segments and interviews on NPR, BBC, CBS and numerous national and local radio broadcasts. The campaign's YouTube video has more than 220,000 views and the Murray Hill Inc. for Congress website attracted over10,000 fans.  A video of campaign highlights, including the YouTube video and a new Murray Hill Inc. for President animation will be screened at the Dartmouth event.
