NH House Leaders Statement in response to NH Center for Public Policy Studies report

The following statement from House Majority Leader D.J. Bettencourt (R-Salem) is in response to a report issued today by the New Hampshire Center for Public Policy Studies, sponsored by the Business and Industry Association of New Hampshire, in collaboration with the New Hampshire High Technology Council.  Results of the study show that New Hampshire's business costs are high relative to  other states and countries with which the state competes for manufacturing and high technology companies and employment.

"It comes as no surprise that the report by the New Hampshire Center for Public Policies Studies shows that electric rates in New Hampshire are nearly twice as high as competitor states and that our corporate income tax rate is also among the highest in the country. That is why the House Republican caucus has been working extremely hard this session to lower taxes, energy costs, and health care costs while supporting legislation that will create jobs and attract new business to New Hampshire. We will continue to support policies that enhance job creation, end economic uncertainty, and make New Hampshire more competitive within the region."
