Caucus fights Democratic spin with the truth, thanks House Republicans for keeping promises

CONCORD, N.H.―The Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire will help fight the misinformation campaign of state Democrats with a new Web site, www.nhbudgetfacts.org, which gives taxpayers the tools they need to promote the responsible House Republican budget and ensure its passage in the Senate.

“In November, voters rejected the Democratic position that the state has a ‘revenue problem’ and agreed with Republicans, who campaigned on the idea that the state has a ‘spending problem’,” said Andrew Hemingway, chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire. “Unlike past campaigns when politicians said one thing to voters and then went another direction in office, the current House Republicans have historically done exactly what they said they were going to do: they fixed the state’s spending problem.

“The Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire urges Senators to consider the facts of House Republicans’ balanced $10.3 billion budget, which does not raise taxes or fees, does not include any new borrowing, and does not pass any new burden down to the cities and towns of the state, all while providing for our most vulnerable citizens,” Hemingway added. “It is incumbent on Senate Republicans to ensure prosperity, responsibility and hope for New Hampshire’s taxpayers by supporting House Republicans’ historical fiscal achievement, and we hope this Web site helps them make the right decision.”

The NHBudgetFacts.org Web site attempts to break down the expansive 820-page budget bill and 136-page budget policy bill to the basics so people who are not closely involved with the process can speak intelligently about this great achievement as they urge Senate support. The Web site includes some budget basics; namely, the components of the operating budget, a historical look at the state’s recent budget shortfall and a quick look at the proposed budget cuts. The site also includes some charts and graphs that simplify budget understanding and a budget blog that highlights recent statements from Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire Chairman Andrew Hemingway and prominent House Republicans, such as Speaker William O’Brien and Majority Leader D.J. Bettencourt.

“We encourage all of the citizens who voted against the runaway spending of the past Democratic Legislature and all of the citizens who cast a ballot for a responsible, common sense Republican agenda to check out NHBudgetFacts.org,” said Andrew Hemingway, chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire. “This is a Web site voters can use to cut through all of the negative spin from the active minority and arm themselves with raw facts concerning the responsible House Republican Budget. With these facts in hand, we would also encourage citizens to call Senate Republicans and explain to them that this budget is exactly what they voted for in November.”
