Concord, NH - New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley issued the following statement concerning the Party's agreement to pay a fine over an automated call that identified the caller as Ray Buckley, chairman of the New Hampshire Democratic Committee, but did not specifically use the words, "Paid for by the New Hampshire Democratic Party."
"We have never knowingly violated any campaign law; and made what the Attorney General felt was an error by not using the words 'paid for by the New Hampshire Democratic Party.' We believed that the script sufficiently identified who was making the call, but rather than spend additional party resources challenging the Attorney General's position, we believed it was more important to put this to rest and get on with the business of electing Democrats.
"However, we are very happy to see that Attorney General Michael Delaney is taking a more aggressive approach in following up on election law complaints, which was not always the case under prior Attorneys General."
