CONCORD – House Speaker William O’Brien (R-Mont Vernon) and House Majority Leader D.J. Bettencourt (R-Salem) today responded to news that the Executive Council today approved contracts for three managed care companies to provide Medicaid services statewide.
House Speaker William O’Brien
“Managed care will not only bring greater efficiency to the Medicaid program, but it will result in higher quality care for the over 100,000 Medicaid patients across New Hampshire. This will mean that our Medicaid program will keep people healthy instead of paying for people who get sick. At the same time, it will save state taxpayers millions as we focus on prevention and reducing the high overhead of our Medicaid program. This is a win-win for New Hampshire and I applaud the Executive Council for their support of this important program.”
House Majority Leader D.J. Bettencourt
“The Council took an important step in making this move to improve our Medicaid program. In time, we will see that this was a turning point in a program that needed to be overhauled. Now, we need to work closely with the Department of Health and Human Services to ensure that managed care is implemented as smoothly and effectively as possible.”
