Education Funding Constitutional Amendment Statement from Majority Leader D.J. Bettencourt

Concord – House Majority Leader D.J. Bettencourt (R-Salem) made the following statement immediately after the House approved CACR 12, House Leadership’s constitutional amendment to take the courts out of the education funding debate and restore that authority to the legislature and local communities.

“Passing a constitutional amendment to restore decision making back elected officials and away from the courts has long been the top priority of Republicans.  We are thrilled to have been the first legislature to pass such an amendment, and I want to commend our representatives who are committed to giving the citizens the right to vote to bring education funding choices back to the cities and towns, and away from judges,” said Bettencourt.
