House Majority Leader statement on Voter ID Legislation

CONCORD – House Majority Leader D.J. Bettencourt (R-Salem) today offered the following statement in response to the House passing Senate Bill 129 by a vote of 259-116, legislation requiring that a voter present valid photo identification to vote in person.

“Today we took another step toward guaranteeing fair and equitable elections and preventing voter fraud in New Hampshire.  SB 129 merely ensures that the voters are who they say they are and it does so without disenfranchising any citizen of this state.  Anyone who believes in maintaining the integrity of our elections system and who supports the theory of “one man, one vote” should be in support of this legislation.  I call upon Governor Lynch to quickly sign this legisltion  into law once it reaches his desk.”

I think itll have to go through committee of conference to iron out Senate/House differences before it gets to Lynch.
(D) say no voter fraud. What about a 7 year residency requirement for guv and Lynch who was CEO of company in PA until 2000 and guv of NH in 2004? Oops!
