NH House Majority Leader to Lead UNH Law Federalist Society

Concord--Rep. D.J. Bettencourt (R-Salem), the youngest legislator to ever serve as the Majority Leader in the New Hampshire House of  Representatives has been selected the first-ever  president of the Federalist Society at the University of New Hampshire School of Law in Concord.  Founded in 1973 as the Franklin Pierce Law Center, the two schools approved an affiliation agreement in March, 2010 and the institution then became known as the University of New Hampshire School of Law.

  

The Federalist Society is committed to the principles that the state exists to preserve freedom, that the separation of governmental powers is central to our Constitution, and that it is emphatically the province and duty of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it should be.

 

"I am proud to serve once again as president of an organization that fosters critical thought and debate about the application of conservative principles to the law.  But I am especially honored to be the first-ever president of the Federalist Society at the University of New Hampshire School of Law," said Bettencourt.

 

Rep. Bettencourt, a native of Salem, NH and a 2007 graduate of the University of New Hampshire in  Durham is currently serving in his fourth term in the New Hampshire House,  representing the towns of Salem and Windham.  He also served as the president of the society in its final year as part of the Franklin Pierce Law Center.

Please live up to the principles of the Federalist Society in your legislative endeavors. A good start would be defanging Eminent Insane, pot prohibition, and state licensing of marriage canoodling. But don't let those get in the way of your backswing when choppin' further into the budgets of bureaucrats.
