NH GOP - "Super PAC Alert" For Carol: Will Shea-Porter Denounce Super PAC?

SHOT: Shea-Porter on 1/26: “Super PACs and their very wealthy donors are drowning out the voices of the small-dollar donors. . . . Is there anything we can do to stop it in the general election this year?”

A “SUPER PAC ALERT” FOR CAROL: WILL SHEA-PORTER DENOUNCE SUPER PAC?

Shea-Porter’s Hypocrisy Proves She’s Only Looking Out For Herself

Concord, NH – Former Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter has added a new layer to her financial hypocrisy.  After breaking a pledge in 2009 saying she wouldn’t take money from lobbyists, she has now landed the backing of a deep-pocketed liberal Super PAC just days after she pleaded with voters asking, “Is there anything we can do to stop [Super PACs] in the general election this year?”

“A new liberal super-PAC called Credo has announced its first six targets of the 2012 campaign. . . . [including] Frank Guinta (N.H.).” (Cameron Joseph, “Liberal Super-PAC Picks Its First Six House Targets,” The Hill, 1/30/2012)

“Carol Shea-Porter talks a good game about standing up for the middle-class, but when it comes down to it she ignored her commitment not to take money from lobbyists and now she finds herself a beneficiary of an organization that she believes is ‘drowning out the voices of the small-dollar donors,’” said New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Wayne MacDonald.  “Rather than taking the high road, Carol Shea-Porter seems to be willing to toss aside principle and opt for whatever path best suits her political career.”

“Democrats have now answered with some Super PACs of their own. What we saw in 2010 was just a teaser to what we will endure this year. Super PACs and their very wealthy donors are drowning out the voices of the small-dollar donors. . . . Is there anything we can do to stop it in the general election this year?” (Carol Shea-Porter, “Super PAC Alert,” Merrimack Patch, 1/26/2012)

NHGOP Response to What Voters Hope is Obama's Last SOTU Address

"Tonight, New Hampshire voters heard another lofty speech filled with promises to boost job creation and rebuild our economy, but this is the same empty rhetoric they've heard year after year.  President Obama simply doesn't realize that his commitment falls short because his so-called 'accomplishments' are the problem.  ObamaCare, reckless spending and job-destroying regulations are hurting small business owners and drowning out the free market with more government.

"Despite these promises, the unfortunate reality is that the national unemployment rate is significantly higher today than it was when he took office.  Too many New Hampshire workers either can't find a job or are under-employed.

"As we look ahead to 2012, the President's broken promises on the economy and his record of more spending, more debt and more taxes will prove to be a liability for Democrats running for office across our state."

2011: "All these investments. . . . will make America a better place to do business and create jobs." (President Barack Obama, White House Press Office, 1/25/2011, Accessed: 1/24/2012)

NHGOP ADOPTS RESOLUTION STRONGLY SUPPORTING VOTER ID IN NH

Concord, NH – At its Executive Committee meeting last night, the New Hampshire Republican State Committee adopted a resolution stating the NHGOP’s “strong opposition to continued efforts by Democrat legislators and the Governor to defeat legislation requiring voters to present photo identification in order to register and vote in New Hampshire.”  More than thirty states already have identification requirements on the books, including Democrat-controlled states such as Connecticut and Rhode Island.  New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Wayne MacDonald released the following statement about the resolution:

“Voters should be outraged by the recent reports of voter fraud in New Hampshire, and the action taken by the NH GOP reflects the frustration many people across our state are feeling.  It’s a shame that Governor Lynch and Democrats in the legislature have insisted that no problem exists and in the past have opposed efforts that would strengthen our laws.  More than thirty states, both blue and red, already have voter ID requirements on the books and, given our First-in-the-Nation Primary role, we should too.  We must do all that we can to stamp out voter fraud while ensuring that voters get to fairly exercise one of their most fundamental rights.  Protecting the integrity of our elections is fundamental to our democracy.”

Speaker Bill O’Brien moved the motion, which received a second from Manchester Republican Committee Chairman Jeff Frost.

NH GOP CHAIRMAN MACDONALD STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT OBAMA'S UPCOMING VISIT AND FAILED POLICIES

Will Democrats Stand With Obama Next Week And Campaign With Him In 2012?

Concord, NH – President Barack Obama has scheduled a trip to the Granite State on Tuesday to tout his outrageous new spending bill he coins as a Jobs Bill, but ultimately is nothing more than a Stimulus II. The nearly half billion dollars spending bill has failed in the court of public opinion in New Hampshire, as proven by the latest UNH poll numbers that put President Obama’s approval rating at a mere 41%. VIEW POLL HERE. This isn’t stopping the President from trying.  Last time he visited New Hampshire was 21 months ago when he came to promote Obamacare—another massive spending debacle that is already causing  huge cost increases for New Hampshire families. NHGOP Chairman Wayne MacDonald released the following statement on President Obama’s upcoming visit:

“President Obama is unpopular with New Hampshire voters because he is always looking to take more money from them.  He doesn’t know what Granite Staters know which is, you cannot spend our way out of our economic crisis.  The alleged jobs bill he is planning on  coming here to tout is nothing more than a 450 million dollar spending bill to pay for taxpayer funded jobs temporarily. It is an election year stunt on the backs of taxpayers and New Hampshire citizens are astute enough to know it.  Expanding government is not the answer to our jobs crisis.  We need to get government to ease regulations and taxation on the employers in this country if we want them to be able to hire more employees.  We have the highest corporate tax rate in the world and Obama’s proposed increases in taxes for the employers is not the answer.

“I’d like to know if his previously staunch allies will be standing with President Obama, his poor approval rating and bad ideas next Tuesday. Will Carol Shea-Porter, Ann McLane Kuster and Jeanne Shaheen show their support for his outrageous spending plans and tell New Hampshire taxpayers a vote for Obama is a vote for more of the same?  The President is right about one promise he made in 2008—we do need some hope and change.”
