Run Of The Mill Liberal Topic

Bill Maher, Barney Frank, and Joe Scarborough sit down for a chat on HBO.  What was the buzz about postings by commentors being taken off the liberal Huffington Post?

Transcript:

Maher: What about the people who got onto the Huffington Post – and these weren’t even the bloggers, these were just the comments section – who said they, they expressed regret that the attack on Dick Cheney failed.

Joe Scarborough: Right

Maher: Now…

John Ridley: More than regret.

Maher: Well, what did they say?

Ridley: They said “We wish he would die.” I mean, it was (?) hate language.

Barney Frank: They said the bomb was wasted. (laughter and applause)

Maher: That’s a funny joke. But, seriously, if this isn’t China, shouldn’t you be able to say that? Why did Arianna Huffington, my girlfriend, I love her, but why did she take that off right away?

pause ...

Ridley: It’s one thing to say you hate Dick Cheney, which applies to his politics. It’s another thing to say, “I’m sorry he didn’t die in an explosion." And I think, you know…

Maher: But you should be able to say it. And by the way...

Frank: Excuse me, Bill, but can I ask you a question? Do you decide what the topics are for this show?

Maher: Yeah, I decide the topics, they don’t go there.

Frank: But you exercise control over the show the way that she does over her blog.

Maher: But I have zero doubt that if Dick Cheney was not in power, people wouldn’t be dying needlessly tomorrow. (applause)

Scarborough: If someone on this panel said that they wished that Dick Cheney had been blown up, and you didn’t say…

Frank: I think he did.

Scarborough: Okay. Did you say…

Maher: No, no. I quoted that.

Frank: You don’t believe that?

Maher: I’m just saying if he did die, other people, more people would live. That’s a fact.

Thank you HBO and Bill Maher!

How many of you will see the implications of this article and C-Pac?

hurryupharry,

He's right. People should not be talking about the death of the Vice President as if it were a good thing on national TV.

Ah but you don't see Carol Shea Porter and other lefties locking Bill Maher up questioning his sanity!

Rick:

Let's see how many progressive news junkies can figure out what the difference is.

(hint) There are no Democrat talking points for this issue. You will have to feel this one out for yourselves.

Ed,

Let's not get all holier than thou now. A prominent conservative called a presidential candidate a "faggot" and I see nothing resembling a protest from you.
Is this the plan for 2008? Call everyone faggots and expect a cakewalk?
You could very easily disavow this kind of slur. Is that in your plans, or are you waiting for your marching orders?

Dave:

You missed it as well.

Chaz, I mean Ed,

Sorry, I get confused sometimes because you are both so partisan.

I miss some and I hit some. Keep pitching.

Dave:

(Hint) Anne Coulter is a poltical pundit, commentator, and for the most part, a stand-up insult comic.

Joe Scarborough? Former Congressman Joe Scarborough - the one who NEVER had to answer for the dead intern found in his office? That Joe Scarborough?

Ed,

Maybe you could tell me which of the following are serious political players and which are insult comics, because they all spoke at the same event...

Vice President Dick Cheney
Mitt Romney
Rudy Guiliani
Sean Hannity
Ann Coulter
Michelle Malkin
Senator Jim DeMint
Senator Sam Brownback
Represenative Tom Tancredo
Jim Gilmore
Newt Gingrich
Laura Ingraham
Ward Connerly
Michael Steele

Or maybe I missed something again?

And I thought I could train you guys to THINK!

Take a deap beath, and without all the attack mode behavior - try again.
March 5, 2007 | Unregistered CommenterEd Naile
Nice try Ed, but I squashed you
March 5, 2007 | Registered CommenterDave Jarvis
I'll tell you what, I'll pitch next time

Maybe YOU could start thinking, instead of just jerking your right knee, Ed. You could set an example.

Dave:

If you think a list of C-PAC attendees is relevant to this issue you are only half way there.

This is getting sad.

Don't you guys have guru or someone you can contact?

Oh, Smart Alex couldn't even make a weak guess.

He's out.

Ed:

Let's see. Ms. Coulter, an invited speaker at the event and a darling of the right wing media, calls a presidential candidate a faggot. She is a not a stand-up insult comic, and would be insulted if you said she was. The crowd at CPAC gives her a round of applause for her daring.

Some number of unknown posters on Huffington Post post univited comments that they wish Cheney had been killed. The blogmaster deletes the comments, and Bill Maher, who really is a political comic, tries to make shock-comedy use of it. His guests are not happy about it.

Comments like Cheney should die are flat out wrong. We elected him, and if we want him gon, we need to impeach him, not kill him. But this is not the only place where you will see statements that this politician or that politician should die. I could log onto Freerepublic.com just about any dweekay and find posters there wishing that someone from the left were killed.

But Ed, we await your answer with great anticipation. Could you enlighten us as to what truly are the implications of this article and C-Pac?

Mike Moonbat walks right past it.

Less anger and more observation and you may come up with an answer.

Anyone who wants to can look up Anne Coulter on Google and see what she calls herself.

I think political standup insult comic is pretty much dead on.

She calls herself a polemicist. But is that really what she is?

Anne Coulter actually wordsmiths her way through making fun of her opponets and their silly liberal ideas.

Although she is an attorney who has practiced in Federal courts she is not looked to for her legal analysis.

Her acidic wit is what she is know for since her first public stoning. She slam-dunked, on a cable program, a disabled Viet Nam vet who was using phony documentation to make a case against landmines.

She made fun of some 911 widows for being media mavens.

That is what she is known for.
