Me thinks she "stirred" it too much.
Let’s see, Liberal Democrat Nancy Pelosi votes 100% with Bush on the bailout and loses! Who would have imagined such a thing could happen, what, with the burning desire of bi-partisanship and all.
Some 40% of Democratics (not a misspelling) in the House voted against the $700 billion, for starters, bailout? Do you think the flood of calls from voters back home made a difference?
This must be the Extreme Right-Wing Republican’s fault – and Dick Cheney, and Newt, and Abramson.
I wonder how the financial end of the world will look. It was scheduled to happen if this vote failed. There probably won’t be a cheshire cat/botox grin on the lame duck Speaker of the House’s kisser either. (This is her last term. We can all admit that now, right? If a 9% popularity rating isn’t a tell-all, what is?)
The clowning glory of this liberal Democrat failure to nationalize the banking industry was the pre vote speech by the Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, with one highlight here:
Pelosi described the $700 billion price tag of the bailout this way. $700 billion… “is a number that is staggering, but tells us only the costs of the Bush Administration’s failed economic policies — policies built on budgetary recklessness, on an anything goes mentality, with no regulation, no supervision, and no discipline in the system.”
Nancy apparently stepped away from bi-partisanship momentarily to cheap shot those Republicans whom she thought had bowed to her will and would vote for the bailout. She misjudged.
Classic liberal Nancy is; power hungry, elitist, ungracious, and totally unable to do anything about the consequences of her fate.
