A fine fellow Christopher Buckley is, a graduate of Yale and a Skull and Bones member, quite, quite, quite smart – and the son of William F. Buckley Jr.
I remember when he endorsed Barack Obama. It was a mini-October Surprise, or was meant to be I assume.
Here in smug detail is one of little Chris Buckley’s reasons for going all Obama all the time:
“While I regret this development, I am not in mourning, for I no longer have any clear idea what, exactly, the modern conservative movement stands for. Eight years of "conservative" government has brought us a doubled national debt, ruinous expansion of entitlement programs, bridges to nowhere, poster boy Jack Abramoff and an ill-premised, ill-waged war conducted by politicians of breathtaking arrogance. As a sideshow, it brought us a truly obscene attempt at federal intervention in the Terry Schiavo case.
So, to paraphrase a real conservative, Ronald Reagan: I haven't left the Republican Party. It left me.”
Wow, a Yale man of letters reduced to parroting Democrat talking points ala October 2008.
I wonder about the stunning amount of inheritance off of which Christopher Buckley must be living. How much has disappeared since the coronation of Mr. Obama?
Isn’t Christopher Buckley one of those rich white guys who have now become public enemy number one? Oh dear.
Does Mr. Buckley recognize the Obama he voted for and is national debt still a concern?
Christopher Buckley’s statement that he doesn’t know what the modern conservative movement stands for is a bit weak. Shouldn’t he know what it is SUPPOSED to stand for and maybe express that in an article? And how was the Obama agenda a better alternative?
Christopher Buckle’s dad was right about Yale it seems and he was certainly made of sterner stuff.
