George Lucas and Steve Spielberg are concerned that Hollywood will tumble into itself and major movie releases will be a thing of the past.
And none too soon!
Can you imagine an America without the phony royalty of Hollywood yapping away like they are something more than intellectual lightweights who are, for the most part, related to each other?
The family trees in Hollywood don’t have any more branches than some backwater towns in fly-over states Hollyweird makes fun of.
Losing the cultural impact of left leaning, mostly obscene for no other reason than lack or originality, movies would be quite refreshing.
I long ago stopped going to any movie other than one with new actors. And I never go to any Spielberg/Lucas movies. They are mostly hype and predictable.
To have these two mega-director guys show concern for the “industry” puts a smile on my face. It’s like a great big tug on their red carpet.
I have no illusion Hollywood will just dry up and go away like Air America. But if it winds up like Doonesbury or Saturday Night Live, pretending to be something chic and cool for the small audience who thinks they matter – fine with me.
