CNHT will not be training a voluntary Bud Com in Antrim. And yes there was such a mistake on the budget but trust me, the Merrimack budget committee being what it currently is wouldn't have caught it. The committee spends two meetings in which each department head is questioned briefly about their part of the budget. Things like projected revenue aren't even discussed. A REAL budget committee might have caught it but in comparing what Merrimack's committee does to most other towns in NH that have bud coms, it's a sad joke.

Ed Naile comments on Up To Its Ass In Debt, Antrim Makes A Choice

Richard:

And if I am not mistaken, the first year of your switch to a charter form of government you dropped the bud com?

Didn't the idiot town manager, Kieth Hickey, you hired from Bedford make a $1.1 million dollar mistake on your budget and short your town that much in the next budget?

I remember something like that.

Richard Barnes comments on Up To Its Ass In Debt, Antrim Makes A Choice

As someone who's spent two terms on the Merrimack budget committee, I can tell you first hand that having a "budget committee" will do nothing unless the town gets the right people on the committee. The running joke (if you can call it a joke) in Merrimack is that the committee is more likely to add money to a budget then subtract it. It's gotten to the point where more then one person has suggested doing away with the committee and in fact they have on the town side. The committee as it stands now only looks over the school budget.

Kerry comments on Where's Jerry When You Need'm

Wow. www.nhnsider.com deserves an award.

http://enigmaticalfalt.blogspot.com/2010/03/video-hopsack-endeavourers.html
