Former Portsmouth mayor Steve Marchand has declared his candidacy for Governor of NH. Manchester mayor Ted Gatsas is also a candidate for the corner office. They have both stated in one form or another that the drug crisis is the number one challenge that our state faces and fighting it is their main priority.
I find that to be kind of a head scratcher, sure it's a problem, but number 1? How bout run away electricity costs, run away costs at the UNH system, economic development, balanced budgets. You know that sorta thing. I'm just not sure that the illegal drug use is the number one issue our state faces.
Call it a passing thought but what about those of us who 'struggle' to pay our bills and provide for our families?
