Cantwell-McCain: A Return to Glass-Steagall

By Kylie of Nashua, NH

Just a message from a fellow New Hampshire resident, about the importance of Cantwell-McCain, an amendment to the Dodd financial reform bill introduced and co-sponsored by John McCain and Maria Cantwell.

Harry Reid is pushing for a cloture vote on the Dodd Bill as we speak.  This would completely destroy all attempts to restore the necessary Glass-Steagall separation of speculative and commercial banking, repealed in 1999 by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.

Both New Hampshire Senators Judd Gregg and Jeanne Shaheen have voted against this, and in favor of Wall Street greed, and Gregg was one of those who voted for the destruction of Glass-Steagall in 1999.

Not enough people understand how important Glass-Steagall really is - how it has the potential to save our country from GENERATIONS of oncoming austerity, by allowing us to write off the bad speculative debts of the banksters - the debts which were transferred to us - the taxpayers - when the TARP was passed. Please consider this short video, explaining the importance of Glass-Steagall, and how it was destroyed:

Consider calling Gregg and Shaheen today to let them know - they're showing their TRUE allegiance is to the bankers and NOT their constituents if they vote for cloture, OR vote down Cantwell-McCain.

Thanks for your time, and have a great week!
