Broken Political Promises & Corruption

In 2006, a majority of voters - angry, disgusted and alarmed with our country’s direction under Republican control - swept Democrats to majorities in Congress. They were then lulled into accepting the Party’s self-serving rhetoric that if only voters delivered Democrats a filibuster-proof Senate and the presidency in 2008, they would be able to restore sanity and the rule of law to our nation.

Unfortunately, this turned out to be an intentional and cynical lie in the spirit of Lucy’s duping the ever gullible Charlie Brown into hoping that just this once she might not laughingly yank the football away at the last second, leaving him flat on his back in the dust (again).

Americans were eager to dismantle the Bush/Cheney policies, beginning from when the bogus “War on Terror” was launched and used as the pretext for fomenting mass fear and hysteria, followed by imperial “wars of choice”, ethnic and religious hatred, ideological industry-beholden flacks in charge of (not) policing Wall Street and big business, unrestricted surveillance, torture, ruinous deficits, pervasive cronyism, suspension of Constitutionally-guaranteed civil liberties, and unpunished blatant law-breaking by the President and his highest retainers.

Citizens should always be wary when politicians propose the canard called a “The War on _____”.  It’s intentionally designed as an unwinnable, endless campaign declared against an intangible foe waged for the purposes of the curtailment of liberty and the long-term transfer of truckloads of taxpayer money to crony corporations and special interests (e.g., “The War on Poverty”, “The War on Terror”, “The War on Drugs” – what’s next, “The War on Hurricanes?”).

Many of their hard-working supporters and activists began to suspect the true motives of the newly-elected Democratic majority in Washington and that the “fix was in” when one of Nancy Pelosi’s first acts as Speaker was to famously declare, “Impeachment is off the table”.  As it turned out, their suspicion was justified.

When the Democrats took majority control of Congress in 2006, having committed to extricating us from our  ”wars of choice”, America was engaged in (only) two such conflicts:  Iraq and Afghanistan.  Now four years later, our nation is deep into five “wars of choice”:  Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia and Yemen, and agitating for a sixth in Iran.

Betraying a core campaign pledge, and building upon the foundation of unconstitutional powers unlawfully claimed by his predecessor, our Democratic President has seized further sweeping and unprecedented dictatorial powers to imprison indefinitely, render overseas, torture, try via kangaroo court, deny access to legal counsel, and/or kill by decree any person anywhere in the world including American citizens without charges or recourse.  A vast, secret shadowy government has grown its tentacles exponentially on this Nobel Peace Prize winner’s watch. Whistle-blowers who’ve alerted us to waste, incompetence, wrong-doing and corruption are prosecuted; high-crimes and treason by political elites and Wall Street are dismissed with the patronizing slogan: “We must look forward, not backward”.

What have the Democrats in Washington produced since their 2008 victory? More war, more police state, more debt; a health insurance bill that transfers upwards of $1 trillion over ten years to the self-serving health insurance industry in exchange for a few overpriced benefits that can be capriciously revoked without substantive penalty, and which forces another thirty million of us to buy their loophole-ridden and often worse-than-useless products;  a financial industry regulatory bill that’s mostly smoke and mirrors with its effective enforcement provisions hollowed out or deleted in backroom deals; and an undersized train wreck of an economic stimulus bill, riddled with one-time pork, ineffectual tax cuts and short-term local government subsidies.

Even when Washington Democrats did pass something worthwhile - student loan reform - in a craven, cowardly and shameful act of betrayal, they bundled it with an ultimately proven unconstitutional death warrant for ACORN, as the Democrats caved (again) to right-wing propaganda and lies.

As has been the case on numerous occasions over the last four years, it is also neither leadership nor courage for Democrats in particular or any elected officials in general to disingenuously claim credit for token voting in opposition to legislation, e.g., war funding or TARP, only after their leadership had already secured enough votes for passage.

Of course Washington Republicans, both before and after 2008, have been at least as destructive and dangerous to our Republic and as previously noted, perhaps even more so.  Lest we forget that it was still during Bush/Cheney’s reign in the fall of 2008 – not Obama’s – and enthusiastically supported by Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch Mc Connell, Republican House Minority Leader John Boehner and the majority of the Republican caucus in both Houses that TARP and the Federal Reserve transferred upwards of $27 trillion to Wall Street and “took over” several big banks, investment houses and insurance companies, enriching the crooks and leaving the rest of us to rot.

Experience clearly shows that campaign rhetoric to the contrary, neither Party intends to abandon their lust for empire, addiction to unrestrained military spending, growth of the security state, pork projects and vote-buying, pandering to special interests, destruction of individual liberty, cronyism, Wall Street and corporate favoritism and largesse, lawlessness and two-tiered justice, deficit spending, secrecy and executive power.

In Roman times, emperors held the support of the common people via what was referred to as “bread and circuses”.  Perhaps the only real difference between the major Parties may be that the Democrats distribute the “bread” and the Republicans the “circuses”.  Pick your poison.

Present-day euphoric Republican voters are cautioned to take note that Lucy’s sport knows no favorites among the gullible.

Perhaps it's time to cast off the unconstitutional and hopelessly corrupt stranglehold this broken "two-party system" has on our Republic. A good start might be to end automatic ballot access for the major parties - let everyone qualify each election cycle on a level playing field.

US Rep McCotter: Jobless Numbers Understate Real Unemployment

Washington, D.C. – The Department of Labor today released the national unemployment rate for the month of September.  At 9.6%, that rate was maintained for the second straight month, although 95,000 jobs were lost.  State unemployment numbers are scheduled for release on October 22.  At present, Michigan possesses the country’s second highest rate of unemployment at 13.1% and more than 650,000 Michiganders out of work.

U.S. Representative Thaddeus G. McCotter said, “More big government taxes, spending, deficits and debt are prolonging this painful recession and Americans’ suffering.”

Regarding the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ unemployment measure, Rep. McCotter decried, "Only government could come up with something that says you've been unemployed too long to be considered unemployed.  In fact, what you would find, as a statistic, is if every American in the world stopped looking for work, you would have an unemployment rate of zero."

Was it not bad enough that Congress took yours and my tax dollars and used it to help some guy from Texas or Maine or where ever, buy a new Lexus, or whatever new car he bought (cash for clunkers). Now Congress is going to take your tax dollars and mine and help people buy satellite Internet. Sound crazy?
 
That's right, I am in the satellite communications business and I just received a rejoice full e-mail announcing that Hughesnet, a national satellite Internet provider, has been awarded $58.7 Million in Stimulus money to promote broadband satellite Internet. This e-mail was sent to prepare me for the many sales and installations I will be doing through this Government backed program.
 
But Hughesnet is a private company that has already been providing satellite Internet to those who want to pay for it.  So what's so wrong with folks actually paying for something they want? Does it really make sense for Congress to buy satellite Internet for people with your money? No! It makes absolutely no sense.
 
I have been a Hughesnet dealer for many years and although this would mean a big influx of dollars for my small company, I simply cannot and will not participate in this program. I know my unwillingness to participate in the program will mean nothing to Hughesnet, hey, I am just a small fry, but it means something to me. I simply cannot willingly participate in the continuous fiscal dismantling of our government.
 
This program is yet another example of Congress attempting to play god with the free market system, trying to pick winners by throwing money at them hoping to pick up many votes along the way, all the while continuing to dig deeper and deeper from the bottom of this huge financial hole they've got us in.

Subject: Your Protection of the Constitution of the United States of America.

Dear Director Mueller:

We undersigned citizens have grave concerns about the existence of a domestic enemy currently controlling our government. The lawless subversion of our constitutionally based government was converted into a competing form of government through other than constitutional means. This is a direct violation of the Constitution.

We believe that this bloodless coup was facilitated by members of Congress who chose to engage in a conspiracy, encouraged by the extreme levels of corruption within the Obama Administration.

On the FBI website, government corruption is noted as the number one focus of your organization. Therefore, as Director, you are personally charged with maintaining governmental compliance within the rules of law as first and foremost defined by the provisions of the Constitution of the United States of America.

It is our belief that this situation is urgent, because the conduct of those involved leads us to conclude that the crimes of Trea-son, Bribery, and/or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors probably have been committed against both the Constitution and the People of the United States of America.

These matters can no longer be considered to be politics as usual. The Obama administration has deliberately blurred the lines between politics and subversion so as to mask what seems to be the intent of this subversive agenda. We believe that the pur-pose of this agenda was to undermine and destroy our constitutional form of government. We see evidence of the progress of this strategy on a daily basis.

Confident that a proper investigation by the FBI will expose the true nature of those participating in this conspiracy, we are call-ing upon you to exercise the full range of your authority and to launch an immediate investigation into these critical matters as they relate to the rule of law. The specific issues will be enumerated on following pages.

Director Mueller: The fate of our great nation and the state of the public trust are in your hands. While we understand the gravity of the conflicted position in which you find the FBI as well as yourself personally, it is with complete confidence that we believe you to be a man of great integrity and ethics. Consequently, we are counting on you to perform the functions of your job, consistent with your role as Director of the FBI, and not to permit obvious political considerations to cloud or to color your judgment.

We appreciate the manner in which you willingly swore an oath to protect the Constitution and the interests of the American People. Therefore, we know that you can be depended upon to direct the necessary human capital and resources of the agency for which you are responsible, to protect the Constitutional rights bestowed by our Creator upon all citizens, and to enforce the rule of law – so as to ensure governmental adherence to our Constitution.

8		Bribery		Purchase of Congressional support for the passage of Obama’s healthcare bill including the “Cornhusker Kickback”, “Louisiana Purchase” and having the Department of Interior increase water allocations to the Central Valley of California to secure the votes of Democrat Reps. 9		Misrepresentation		Lying to the American people by promising they could keep their healthcare coverage if they wanted to, when in reality tens of millions will be forced out of their current plans.

Obama’s policy of intentionally not securing our nation’s borders, in opposition to Article

IV, Section 4 of the Constitution which calls for the President to protect states from foreign

invasion, in an attempt to blackmail Republican support for comprehensive immigration

a time they are being overrun by a narco-paramilitary invasion.

17 Violation of 14th Amendment

Department of Justice illegal race based policies regarding voter fraud as exposed by former

Justice attorney J. Christian Adams. This includes the dropping of voter intimidation

charges against 2 Black Panthers brandishing weapons in front of a voting location in Philadelphia

and the stated intention by political appointees to ignore voter crimes committed

by African Americans, Latinos and other minorities.

18 Violation of Voter Law Department of Justice purposefully allowing some states to continue their disenfranchisement

of military personnel serving overseas in direct opposition to the 2009 Military and

Overseas Voter Empowerment (MOVE) Act, which was established in response to the more

than 17,000 military votes that were not counted in the 2008 election because ballots had

arrived after the deadline.

20 Attempted Bribery Spending $23 million of taxpayer money through the U.S. Agency for International Development

(USAID) to support a constitutional referendum in Kenya in spite of the Siljander

Amendment, which makes it illegal for the U.S. to lobby for abortion in other countries.

The Kenyan referendum was partially written by Planned Parenthood and is designed to

legalize abortion in that nation.

21 Abuse of Power The Sherry Sherrod incident.. the original judgment of “Pigford v. Glickman” in 1999 only

applied to a total of 16,000 black farmers. But in 2008, a junior Senator got a law passed

to reopen the case and allow more black farmers to sue for funds. The Senator was Barack

Obama.

22 Abuse of Power The White House sham investigation of BP’s involvement in the release of the mass murdering

Lockerbie bomber from prison. The Obama administration not only knew beforehand

of the Scottish government’s plan to set Abdel Baset al-Megrahi free on

“compassionate” grounds, they even sent a letter to Scottish authorities stating their preference

for his remaining in Scotland over his transfer to a Libyan prison.

23 Abuse of Power The canceling of 77 properly filed oil field development contracts approved by the Bush

administration by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, preventing the extraction of up to 3 trillion

gallons of oil buried under Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and North Dakota, more than

enough to end our dependence on foreign oil and supply the U.S. with its energy needs for

hundreds of years at current consumption rates.

24 Abuse of Power Investigations by the Department of Homeland Security to determine the political affiliation

of people making Freedom of Information Act requests and the subsequent delay and

even altogether ignoring of requests made by Republican affiliated individuals.

25 Abuse of Power The hardest to prosecute in court, but worst crime of all that Obama has perpetrated

against the American people is the economic tyranny that his socialist policies have

wreaked upon our nation. While Obama has been living the life of a king, including frequent

5 star vacations, dozens of concerts at the White House and endless rounds of golf,

all paid for by taxpayer money—the increased transportation and security costs alone are

in the millions of dollars—he has called for the rest of us to endure economic sacrifice. The

annual trillion dollar deficits and borrowing of 41 cents of every dollar of government

spending by Obama is leading to unsustainable and potentially catastrophic debt.

The appointment of Hillary Clinton to Secretary of State. She is ineligible under the

Constitution to hold that office under Article 1, Section 6 "No Senator or Representative

shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil

Office under the Authority of the United States, which shall have been created, or

the Emoluments whereof shall have increased during such time;" She was

appointed while she was still a Senator and the pay for that position was increased

during her time in the Senate.

Some unprecedented news today, folks. Never in the history of the United Nations has a

U.S. President taken the chairmanship of the powerful UN Security Council. Perhaps it is

because of what could arguably be a Constitutional prohibition against doing so. To wit:

No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any

Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of

any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or

foreign State.
