With Bradley's Help, Laconia Fire Department Obtains New Rescue Boat from Coast Guard

(Laconia, NH) - First District Congressman Jeb Bradley was on hand at the presentation of the Laconia Fire Department's new rescue boat at the Mount Washington Docks on Lake Winnipesaukee today. Bradley was joined by Laconia Fire Chief Ken Erickson and several members of the Laconia Fire Department for the public presentation of the Department's new 21-foot Rigid Hull Inflatable rescue boat.

The boat is a surplus boat from the U.S. Coast Guard and did not require any federal funds. Bradley was able to help facilitate the acquisition of the boat from the Coast Guard for the Fire Department. The Department has been using the boat for three months now and has already used it in several emergency calls.

"It was great to be in Laconia today for the presentation of the City's new rescue boat," stated Bradley. "When the Fire Department approached my office for help in obtaining the boat, I was pleased to assist them in their efforts. It is vital that our first responders have the tools necessary to perform their duties safely and efficiently. This new rescue boat has already been used in several missions and I know it will continue to be a valuable tool for the Department."

Laconia Fire Chief Ken Erickson stated, "The Department thanks Congressman Bradley for his efforts in helping us acquire this new rescue boat. Since the boat went into service, we have used it to respond to six emergency calls already, ranging from boat fires to boat crashes. Previously, we had no capabilities to respond to anything other than a shore-line rescue. This is great news for the City and we appreciate Congressman Bradley's support."
