Congresswoman-elect Carol Shea-Porter recommended for the Committee on Education and the Workforce

Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi announced yesterday that the Democratic Steering Committee has recommended that Carol Shea-Porter be appointed to the US House of Representatives Committee on Education and the Workforce.

The Committee has oversight over a wide range of issues including educational standards, pre-school programs, student loans, health care, pensions, labor standards, and wages. "I am excited to have the chance to work on issues that really affect people's day-to-day lives," said Shea-Porter.

The full Democratic Caucus is expected to confirm the nomination.
