CONCORD, N.H. - Sunday brunch is about to get a lot more interesting for the New Hampshire Young Democrats (NHYD).  U.S. Senator Evan Bayh (D), Indiana is scheduled to be the guest of honor at the Young Dems monthly Speakers Series taking place on Sunday, March 26, in Portsmouth.
Senator Bayh will bring his words of wisdom and appetite for understanding the youth vote to 15-20 young democrats from around the state. Bayh will speak about the issues facing the country and about the power that young Democrats have to make a difference by voting, working in the community, and running for office.  The event is hosted by Portsmouth Young Democrat Justin Nadeau and includes newly-elected Mayor of Portsmouth Steve Marchand, age 32, the youngest Mayor in New Hampshire and the youngest in Portsmouth in more than 40 years.
"We are honored to have the opportunity to sit down, one-on-one, with Senator Bayh," says Gray Chynoweth, president of the NHYD.  "This is just one of many events and speakers that we have in the works as the political cycle moves forward.  The youth of New Hampshire has an important role to play in local and national politics -- we have a voice and we have questions.  We look forward to meeting with many more candidates as 2008 approaches."
The brunch is just one of several stops that Senator Bayh will make on what marks his third trip to New Hampshire in the past year.  Bayh was the keynote speaker at the New Hampshire Democratic Party's Annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner that took place this past fall.  Anyone interested in attending the event can visit for more details.
The New Hampshire Young Democrats is an inclusive, statewide organization of 18-36 year olds that exists to excite, engage and involve young people in New Hampshire's political community; mentor, recruit and empower a new generation of New Hampshire leaders; advance progressive ideals and values; and elect young Democrats.
