State Rep. Peter Sullivan today chastised fellow state legislator Jim Craig for using taxpayer dollars to promote his political ambitions.

"Several weeks ago, Jim Craig sent out a letter announcing his candidacy for Congress on official, taxpayer funded House letterhead. This is a flagrant misuse of public dollars, and Jim owes the public an immediate apology" said Sullivan.

"This week, the House Democratic Caucus newsletter, which is also produced with taxpayer funds, contained a glowing reference to Jim Craig's witty performance at a St.Patrick's Day roast. This roast had nothing to do with his official duties, but was a social event organized by a Concord lobbying firm. Once again , Jim showed a lack of sensitivity when it comes to the ethical implications of his actions".

"People are fed up with politicians who abuse the public trust. I will not ask the taxpayers to improperly subsidize my campaign. I challenge Jim to join me in making that committment. We owe the public that level of respect".

Rep. Peter Sullivan is serving his third term as a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives. An attorney and a former officer in the Army National Guard, Sullivan resides in Manchester with his wife, Katya.
