Governor Applauds House Passage of Legislation Increasing Oversight of Crematoriums

CONCORD - Gov. John Lynch today applauded the House of Representatives for passing legislation to increase oversight of crematoriums in New Hampshire.

"Families coping with the loss of a loved one should know that their family members will be treated with respect and dignity," Gov. Lynch said. "This legislation will help ensure the proper oversight of crematoriums, and that cremations in New Hampshire are conducted respectfully and carefully."

After the discoveries at the Bayview Crematorium in Seabrook lat winter, Gov. Lynch formed a task group to make recommendations for improving oversight of crematoriums.

The legislation passed today, HB 1696 incorporates recommendations made by the task group.
