Manchester Republican Committee Reaction to School Budget Proposal
Chairman calls budget passed last night a “good start”
Manchester , NH -- The Manchester Republican Committee today lauded the Manchester School Board Finance Committee for their effort last night to identify and eliminate wasteful spending in the budget requested by the school administration.
“The taxpayers of Manchester sent a crystal clear message to City Officials last November: They want tax relief,” said chairman Jerry Thibodeau. “While a $4 million increase in school spending isn’t exactly my idea of a tax relief, it is a good start,” Thibodeau added
Thibodeau cautioned the rest of the City’s officials to be careful as the budget goes forward. “We have seen the numbers. The administration is still top heavy. Let’s hope the full School Board, and eventually the Board of Mayor and Aldermen can find further savings and get the school budget down, without using the sport programs as hostage, to a taxpayer friendly number.”
Thibodeau also praised Finance Committee Chairman Doug Kruse for his work on behalf of the City’s taxpayers. “Chairman Kruse was put in a tough position. On the one hand, he was charged with finding savings in the requested budget. On the other hand, being the only Republican on the committee, he had to build consensus to get something passed,” Thibodeau, said.
The Manchester Republican Committee is committed to upholding Republican principals throughout the City, and fighting for the taxpayers. For more information about the Manchester Republican Committee, visit
