The Hillsboro-Deering DECA club is student organization for individuals who are planning careers in marketing and management and are enrolled in vocational marketing education programs in high school.
Hillsboro-Deering High School DECA ended their year on a high note as five students were recognized on the international stage at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) held in Dallas, Texas from April 28-May 3, 2006. There were 13,000 high school students that attended the conference from all fifty states, Puerto Rico, Guam, various provinces of Canada, and Germany.
“All students were successful in their own right, and I can not express the level of pride I have in them” remarked Marc Payeur, Hillsboro-Deering DECA advisor. “They worked hard to qualify, and then practiced often to fine-tune their skills and business techniques to be competitive. Just getting to this level is an achievement. It paid off.”
Senator Flanders concluded, “I am very proud of the accomplishment that these students achieved. Their hard work, both during school hours and outside, is a testament to the ingenuity of our future generation. The DECA club at Hillsboro-Deering allows students to move outside the fundamental box and reach for the stars. There was tremendous success within the DECA program this year and I look forward to their future endeavors.”
