CONCORD , NH– Yesterday the New Hampshire State Senate approved legislation aimed at reducing current boat noise limits on New Hampshire water. The legislation was introduced because there is growing problem of loud boats on lakes and rivers in New Hampshire.

The bill, HB1624, also changes testing procedures which are currently cumbersome for marine patrol.

“Boat noise is a big issue in this state, particularly in the Lakes Region, and this legislation streamlines the process for stopping loud boats, and allows marine patrol to test boats that violate the noise requirements on the spot,” commented co-sponsor Sen. David Gottesman, D-District 12. “Most complaints that I have received regarding boating have been about boat noise. This initiative will make our lakes more enjoyable, and I am happy to see HB1624 pass.”
