Mayor thanks Dept of Veterans Affairs for decision to withdraw plan
Manchester – Manchester Mayor Frank C. Guinta today thanked the US Department of Veterans Affairs for withdrawing their proposal that would curtail hours of operation at emergency rooms within the Department of Veterans’ Affairs' Health Care System.
The recent Department of Veterans’ Affairs proposal would have reduced hours of operation at the Manchester VA Medical Center’s emergency room to 6am-10pm on weekdays.
"I thank Secretary Nicholson for acting in the best interest of Manchester, and all of New Hampshire’s Veterans," said Guinta. "Having this facility remain as accessible as possible to our community’s Veterans is critical."
>Mayor Guinta also thanked Congressmen Bradley and Bass for the active role they played in opposing the proposed changes. "Congressmen Bradley and Bass have shown once again that they recognize the needs of our State’s Veterans and have worked diligently to oppose these proposed cutbacks," Guinta added.
Mayor Guinta is a staunch supporter of our country’s veterans and has real concerns about the recent Department of Veterans Affairs proposal and the affect it could have on of those who rely on the care they receive at the Medical Center.
