CAROL SHEA-PORTER BLASTS REP. BRADLEY’S VOTE TO CONTINUE WAR INDEFINITELY

Rochester, NH—Congressional candidate Carol Shea-Porter today sharply criticized Congressman Jeb Bradley’s recent vote to extend the war in Iraq indefinitely.

“This Independence Day, 127,000 American troops stationed in Iraq will not be able to celebrate with their families. Over 2,500 honorable American soldiers will never again see fireworks, parades, and picnics with their loved ones,” Shea-Porter said. “Two weeks ago Jeb Bradley, voted to indefinitely extend the war in Iraq.”

Shea-Porter pointed out that after no weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq, Bradley said the United States needed to stay in Iraq until Iraqis had a democratically elected government.

“That government is now in place,” said Shea-Porter, “but there is no call from the White House or Jeb Bradley and the Republican Congress to bring the troops home. Let’s bring our troops back with parades and fireworks, and let peace begin.”

Shea-Porter is the chairwoman of the Rochester Democratic Committee. She will be marching in Merrimack’s Independence Day parade at 1:00 pm on Tuesday. Her web site is www.carolforcongress.com.
