Talent of City Workers on display at City Hall
Manchester – A few of Manchester’s City Employees were honored for their artwork recently in a ceremony at City Hall. In an artwork competition sponsored by Group Benefits Strategies, Hartford Life Insurance, the City of Manchester, and the National Arts Program, city employees were encouraged to submit their finest works to be hung in the hallways of City Hall and subsequently judged by a team of dignitaries.
First place awards went to: Doreen Boisonneault from the City Assessors Office in the Professional Artwork Category; Stephen Richards in the Intermediate Category; and Meena Gyawali from the Planning Department in the Amateur Category. Also winning individual awards were: Meena Gyawali, who also took home the Governor’s Choice, chosen by the Governor’s Office; Robert MacKenzie, Head of the City Planning Department won the Mayor’s Choice Award, chosen by Mayor Frank Guinta; and Claudia Michael, who won the Best in Show award.
"It is always amazing to see just how gifted our city employees are," said Georgie Reagan, the Mayor’s Assistant to the Arts. "This is a really fun way for some of the City Staff to show off some of their work and get a little recognition for their talent."
Voting for the "People’s Choice Award" is open to the public and will remain open through August 30th. Any residents of Manchester, interested in voting for their favorite are encouraged to visit the information booth on the first floor of City Hall.
