Manchester public relations consultant Stephen Abbott has been named New Hampshire Coordinator for the John Cox for President campaign.

Abbott said he was proud to be associated with the Chicago businessman, and intends to build a strong organization in the state capable of waging a vigorous campaign.

"New Hampshire voters will be impressed by the fiscal and social conservatism of John Cox," he said. "He is a hard-working businessman who shares our values and unlike the Washington insiders, he has not compromised his values or lost touch with the American people," he said.

Abbott said he chose to help John Cox because of his common sense stands on the issues and his appeal for political leaders to be statesmen, not just politicians.

Abbott, 39, was coordinator of Charles Tarbell’s 2004 gubernatorial primary campaign and has been an active member of the Manchester Republican Committee. He was elected as a delegate to the state Republican Convention in 2004, and is a member of the Republican State Committee. He is a former newspaper reporter for the Neighborhood News newspapers and the Weare Free Press.

John H. Cox, 51, is the first announced candidate of the 2008 presidential race. He has already visited each of the state’s ten counties to introduce himself to voters. He is making another trip in late August that will feature several Town Hall-style meetings. He lives in Chicago, IL with his wife and four daughters.
