Contact: Sullivan for Congress
(MANCHESTER)- State Rep. Peter Sullivan today challenged his opponents in the race for New Hampshire's first district congressional seat to join him in signing The Integrity Pledge.
"It's time for candidates to take a new pledge, a pledge to put the people ahead of special interests for a change" said Sullivan, a three-term House member from Manchester.
""Politics-as-usual and politicians-as-usual have failed our state and our country. I am running a campaign free of special interest influence, and will go to Washington owing no favors to the connected and the influential. I will be able to put NewHampshire first.
"I challenge my opponents to join me in signing The Integrity Pledge. Any candidate, Democrat or Republican, who can not do so raises significant questions about their ability to serve the people of New Hampshire. I hope that the other candidates will turn away from politics as usual and join mein putting integrity first for a change".
The text of Rep. Sullivan's Integrity Pledge follows:
As a member of Congress, I pledge to put the public before special interests by taking the following actions:
I. I will support efforts to enact a system of voluntary public financing for congressional campaigns.
II. I will support efforts to pass and enforce tough restrictions on gifts and travel for members of Congress from special interestgroups and lobbyists.
III. I will support full disclosure of all lobbyist contributions and fundraising assistance and having such information posted on the internet.
IV. I will not accept any campaign contribution from any federally registered lobbyist.
V. I will not accept any campaign contribution from any lobbyist registered with the New Hampshire Secretary of State.
VI. I will not accept any campaign contribution from any political action committee associated with any group employing or retaining a federally registered lobbyist.
VII. I will not accept any campaign contributions that have been solicited by any registered state or federallobbyist.
