Conservation Group Praises Work to Protect the Environment
CONCORD: The New Hampshire Chapter of the Sierra Club today announced its endorsement of Representative Charlie Bass (R NH) in the Republican Primary election.
"We are very pleased to announce today that the Sierra Club officially endorses Charlie Bass in the Republican Primary election for New Hampshire’s 2nd congressional district." said Jerry Curran of Amherst, Chapter Political Chair.
"We are confident that Congressman Bass will continue working to protect New Hampshire’s and the nation’s environment, for our families and for our future," said Sierra Club’s New Hampshire Chapter Chair Aline Lotter of < Manchester.
Representative Bass has been a leader in defeating proposals in congress to open Alaska’s National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling. He has pledged to support efforts to develop renewable energy, designate more sections of the White Mountain National Forest as protected wilderness and maintained existing protections for wildlife.
"We are grateful to Congressman Bass for his efforts to protect wilderness areas in New Hampshire and the rest of the country, We encourage Charlie to continue fighting against expanded arctic drilling and to preserve New Hampshire’s wilderness, " said Curran.
"The Sierra Club is campaigning nationally for the development of smart energy solutions, efforts to curb global warming pollution, improved air and water quality and encourages elected officials to support these efforts," concluded Lotter.
