ALL NH DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FACILITIES AND OFFICES RECEIVE NATIONAL ACCREDITATION STATUS

Concord, NH) New Hampshire Department of Corrections Commissioner William L. Wrenn accepted certificates of three-year accreditation for the Division of Community Corrections, Central Office, and the Division of Field Services during the American Correctional Association (ACA) annual conference in Tampa Florida this week. This follows the full accreditation of the Department's four state prisons in 2006.

The accreditation program is a professional peer review process based on over 500 mandatory and non-mandatory national standards. ACA standards address services, programs, and operations essential to effective correctional management. Accreditation is a rigorous audit process that requires review of policies and documentation, as well as extensive interviews with staff and offenders. Through accreditation, the department is able to maintain a balance between protecting the public and providing an environment that safeguards the life, health, and safety of staff and offenders.

Commissioner Wrenn said, "The achievement of this accreditation status is the direct result of the hard work of our outstanding uniformed and non-uniformed Department of Corrections employees, and a clear reflection of their professionalism and dedication. They are truly deserving of our thanks and congratulations."

The Division of Community Corrections is responsible for the North End and Shea Farm Halfway Houses in Concord , the Minimum Security Unit in Concord , and the Calumet Halfway House in Manchester . The Central Office is made up of the Department's administrative and fiscal offices. The Division of Field Services oversees fourteen District and satellite Probation/Parole Offices throughout New Hampshire .
