Former Sen Harris Wofford to Campaign for Obama in NH Sunday and Monday

National service champion to speak at service forum, discuss healthcare, knock on doors

MANCHESTER, NH—Former Senator Harris Wofford will campaign for Senator Barack Obama in New Hampshire on Sunday and Monday, December 16 and 17. Wofford, who helped to create AmeriCorps as a Senator and launch the Peace Corps under the Kennedy Administration, will discuss Obama’s national service plan at a forum in Manchester. Wofford will also discuss healthcare at a roundtable in Goffstown and canvass in Amherst and Milford.

Harris Wofford served as a United States Senator from Pennsylvania from 1991-1995. In the 1960s, as Special Assistant to President Kennedy for Civil Rights, he helped organize the Peace Corps and served in Ethiopia as the Peace Corps' Special Representative to Africa. Wofford also served as CEO of Corporation for National and Community Service in the Clinton Administration.
