NH GOP - Action Alert: Murtha Says Surge is "WORKING"
Monday, December 3, 2007 at 04:54PM Lately we have seen national media acknowledge that the “troop surge” in Iraq is working. Recent articles in The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, LA Times, and Associated Press reflect the success on the ground in Iraq. Even radical left-winger John Murtha, arguably the biggest opponent of the war on terror, has admitted the surge is working.
“I think the ‘surge’ is working,” Mr. Murtha, a Democrat, said in a video conference from his Johnstown office,” (Jerome L. Sherman, “Murtha: The Surge Is Working,” Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, November 30, 2007)
Nancy Pelosi wasn't too pleased that Murtha wasn't following the Democrat" cut and run" policy in Iraq.
"This could be a real headache for us," said one top House Democratic aide, speaking on the condition of anonymity. "Pelosi is going to be furious." (John Bresnahan, “Murtha's comments on 'surge' are a problem for House Democrats,” The Politico, November 30, 2007)
Our question is: What do Murtha's colleagues from New Hampshire think? Carol-Shea Porter and Paul Hodes have opposed the surge in Iraq.
“Rep. Carol Shea-Porter … said the troop buildup in Iraq isn't working.” (John DiStaso,
“Democrats Cool To Latest From Petraeus,” Union Leader, September 11, 2007)
“Hodes maintains that a surge in troop levels is doomed to fail.” (“N.H. Reps Speak Against Iraq Escalation,” Associated Press, February 16, 2007)
Our generals and troops on the ground want to finish the job - and they need our support to do it.

Paul Hodes and Carol Shea-Porter just returned to Washington after a two week Thanksgiving break. Call Carol Shea-Porter and Paul Hodes and ask them if they agree with John Murtha that the surge is working and tell them to support a clean troop funding bill before the Christmas break.
