KINNEAR JOINS SUPPORTERS OF MCCAIN

ARLINGTON , VA– U.S. Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign today announced retired U.S. Naval Admiral Dr. George (Gus) E.R. Kinnear II will support the Arizona Senator’s candidacy and chair the campaign’s veterans coalition in the state of Maine.

Dr. Kinnear will lead Senator McCain’s outreach to veterans and oversee the coalition’s political activities in the state.

During his naval service, Kinnear commanded the Naval Air Force U.S. Atlantic Fleet and served as the U.S. member of the NATO Military Committee in Brussels. Kinnear holds the unique distinction of flying more different types of jet aircraft in combat than any other naval aviator , as well as logging more than 5,000 flying hours and more than 950 arrested carrier landings. In 1992, Kinnear was unanimously selected to chair the Retired Officers Association.

Outside of his military experience, Kinnear served as interim president of the University of New Hampshire. He also served as senior vice president of Grumman Aerospace Corporation and has served on the board of directors for Compaq Computer Corporation and the Aerospace Corporation and Precision Standard Corporation.

Kinnear received his Ph.D. and MS degrees from Stanford University and is one of four members of Kindal Associates in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
