Pelham Activist Named Area GOP Vice Chairman

Pelham Republican activist Shaun Doherty has been appointed to serve as Republican Area Vice Chairman by the Hillsborough County Republican Committee. The area covers the nearly 45,000 residents of Hudson, Litchfield and Pelham.

Sheriff Jim Hardy is the outgoing Area Vice Chairman for these towns.

Area chairs are charged with creating, encouraging and strengthening town Republican committees.

Doherty, 19, is freshman at Rivier College and was the President of Pelham High School’s Class of 2006. In 2005, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. Doherty is the founder and chairman of the Pelham Young Republicans. He was elected by the town of Pelham as a Delegate to the State Republican Convention in 2006, and has been active on many local, state and national political campaigns, both as a consultant and volunteer.

Doherty said it's important to have active Republican committees in these three towns. "They could cast the deciding votes in the 2008 election,” he said.
