SUNUNU VOTES TO SUPPORT OPEN-ENDED BUSH COMMITMENT IN IRAQ
(PORTSMOUTH, NH)--Continuing his lock-step support of President Bush's Iraq policy, John Sununu today voted against a measure setting a withdrawal timetable on U.S. forces in Iraq, effectively making an open-ended commitment to the conflict there.
The measure, the U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans' Care, Katrina Recovery, and Iraq Accountability Appropriations Act, 2007 passed 51-49, despite fervent opposition by Republicans. President Bush has vowed to veto the bill.
"Yet again, John Sununu has voted to support President Bush's indefinite commitment in Iraq," said Marchand, who supported the bill. "Sununu and Bush continue to fight for more of the same in Iraq.
"New Hampshire has made it clear that it is time for a new direction. It is time to get our troops out of Iraq." said Marchand.
