“Ten Republican presidential candidates took the stage last night and not one of them offered a plan to fix our health care crisis. Voters deserve to know where all of the candidates stand on an issue that affects every family in America.
“Even Republican candidates who’ve made healthcare a priority in the past shied away from their record and let others make it a political liability.
“SEIU members invite any presidential candidate who won’t put health care at the top of their to do list to walk a day in their shoes. From the nurse in Iowa whose son enlisted in the National Guard for access to health care and is now serving his second tour in Iraq to the janitor in Houston who cleans our offices all day but can’t afford her cancer treatment, workers are experiencing this crisis first hand.
“Poll after poll shows voters rank health care as their top domestic issue. That’s why SEIU members have set a deadline of August1 of this year for every candidate to issue a plan.
“And it’s not just health care, SEIU members want to know where presidential candidates stand on all the issues that matter most to working people and creating a new American Dream—a paycheck that supports a family, health care for all, and a secure retirement.”
With 1.8 million members, SEIU is the fastest-growing union in North America. Focused on uniting workers in three sectors to improve their lives and the services they provide, SEIU is the largest health care union, including hospitals, nursing homes, and home care; the largest property services union, including building cleaning and security; and the second largest public employee union.
