Michael J. "Mike" Reuschel Announces School Board At Large Filing

Michael J. "Mike" Reuschel has today, July 19th, filed to run for School Board At Large. Mike is a resident of Ward 7 and is currently a State Representative and Selectman in the Ward. He is the Parts Dept. Director for Team Nissan here in Manchester, a $45 Million Dollar Retail business, and was formerly the Vice-Chairman and an instructor for the Manchester Chapter of the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team. Mike has been a volunteer in Law Enforcement and graduated 2nd in class from the Police Academy in 1996. He is married to his wife of 20+ years, Christine, and have two teenage boys, Carl and Adam who attend Manchester Public Schools. Mike looks to bring his integrity, business management ability and can do attitude to the School Board in helping to fulfill the Board's most important function in giving the students the opportunity for a great Public Education and a head start to becoming productive citizens of our Queen City.

"I feel that the board needs to be more representative of our city. Currently 21% of the Board is from Ward 2 and 43% of the Board are from the North End (03104,which has six of our twenty-three schools. 26%.). I will represent all of the city, and in particular the Downtown (03101, one school), which has NO Board members and the East Side (03109, two schools) which only has one Board member."

"We do NOT have failing schools, we have a failure of vision, confidence and optimism. We have an excellent school system with fine teachers, students, staff, parents and administrators. We, however, have challenges because we are the largest city in the state, have the most low income population, the most immigrants and refugees and the highest number of special education students. These are challenges we face with pride in that we are able give a hand UP to those that need it most and give these kids a fighting chance at a good life for themselves and their families."

"I look forward to serving on the School Board with the knowledge that what we can accomplish together today will reward us all tomorrow."
