Vows to bring “fresh perspective” to district
Manchester – Jean Esslinger – business owner, mother of three boys, and community activist – has announced that she is running to be the School Committee representative from Ward 1. Esslinger said that her decision is based on a desire to serve the students, the people of Ward 1 and the city.
“My mission is to be a strong, independent voice on the Manchester School Board,” Esslinger said. “It has become apparent to me that, in order to raise the educational performance of our students, we need to address some important needs. These needs include providing our students a safe environment, giving teachers the tools they need to be successful, and insisting on some much-needed fiscal responsibility from the district.”
Jean has an impressive résumé in the financial field, which will serve her well as a member of the School Board. She is Vice President of Legacy Financial Solutions, Inc., a registered investment advisor and estate planning firm. She is also a Chartered Life Underwriter, and has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin.
Jean is quite committed to the community as well. She is a member of the Queen City Rotary Club, where she has served as chair of several committees. She serves on the Board of Trustees and Downtown Advisory Board for the Greater Manchester Family YMCA and also serves on the Opera New Hampshire Board of Trustees.
In addition to her business and community activities, Jean has three grown sons, William, Luke and Jacob.
