Sen Dodd on President Bush's Defense Authorization Veto

"I'm appalled he would even consider it."

DES MOINES, IA- Senator and Presidential candidate, Chris Dodd, issued the following statement in response to President Bush's reported veto of the Department of Defense authorization bill which included a measure authored by Dodd that would extend the Family and Medical Leave Act to allow the families of wounded servicemen and women to take time off to care for their loved ones.

"While the constitutionality of President Bush's veto in this particular case is unclear, I'm appalled that he would even consider it. It's shocking that this President who speaks with such fervor about supporting the troops, would put the interests of the Iraqi government over the interests of the brave men and women of our armed forces and their families."
