New Hampshire Young Democrats Elect New Leadership

President Garth Corriveau to Continue Post-Primary Momentum With Ambitious Agenda

Concord, N.H. – The New Hampshire Young Democrats (NHYD) elected a fresh board of leaders to build on what was easily the most successful year in the organization's history.

Garth Corriveau was elected President of the NH Young Democrats.  Corriveau, 31, is an attorney in Nashua, a Manchester resident and previously served as NHYD Treasurer.  He takes the reigns from Gray Chynoweth, who resigned in order to work with the Hillary Clinton campaign after two years as NHYD President.
"We just wrapped-up a very busy and productive year for the NH Young Democrats, and I plan on continuing that momentum," says Corriveau.  "We have an ambitious but achievable agenda for 2008 that includes mobilizing voter turnout in NH's youth-concentrated areas, building our grassroots youth network, expanding our membership and holding new, improved and more frequent public events."

The official youth arm of the New Hampshire Democratic Party (NHDP), the Young Dems greatly expanded their visibility and influence with Young Democrats nationwide by hosting the 2007 YDA Fall Conference in November 2007.  The Conference, held for the first time in New Hampshire, was the best attended in YDA history with more than 500 attendees and was highlighted by keynote speaker President Bill Clinton.

NHYD also elected the following young leaders to their board:
Katie Judd, Vice President of Public Affairs
Dave Allen, Vice President of Political Affairs
Kristin Mueller, Secretary
Joe Scully, National Committee Man
Jess Clark, National Committee Woman

The board is currently seeking and reviewing candidates for NHYD Treasurer.  Each member of the NHYD Board of Directors also serves on the NHDP State Committee.

"This is a dynamic organization, with engaged, active and passionate members," adds Corriveau.  "Together we will work hard to achieve our goals and engage New Hampshire's Democratic youth."

The New Hampshire Young Democrats is an inclusive, statewide organization of 18-36 year olds that exists to excite, engage and involve young people in New Hampshire's political community; mentor, recruit and empower a new generation of New Hampshire leaders; advance progressive ideals and values; and elect young Democrats.  For more information, visit
