MANCHESTER (October 28, 2008) - At 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, October 30, 2008, in the Mayor's Office; One City Hall Plaza (Third Floor), Manchester; Mayor Frank Guinta and Parking Manager Brandy Stanley will be making two announcements. First will be the declaring of October as "Assessable Parking Awareness Month" in the city. The second will be to announce a series of meetings to assist residents who need information regarding handicapped parking.
"Since October is ‘Assessable Parking Awareness Month,' I thought it would be appropriate to make the public aware of the issues that some people have in regards to parking. However, I also thought it would be important to work with our Parking Manager to have meetings that will inform people how to obtain parking placard and plates, to explain handicapped parking laws in the city and how to best utilize their permit."
Stanley has also expressed her desire to see this issue addressed. "I am very pleased that Manchester is taking a leading role in New Hampshire's accessible parking awareness initiative, and I look forward to participating in these informational events. Increased awareness of how to use accessible parking spaces and how important they are will make the accessible parking system much more successful."
Along with Stanley, members of the disability community will be at the press conference.
