Manchester - As momentum builds in the district, the Bob Backus for State Senate campaign announced three major endorsements today: NEA New Hampshire, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT-NH) and the National Association of Social Workers.
"These groups represent people who work tirelessly in making our state a better place by helping others. It is an honor to have their support and the support of the teachers and social workers in New Hampshire" said Bob Backus
"I will be a State Senator who will work to ensure that every child can have a quality public education and I will fight to provide affordable and accessible healthcare for all. For far too long the families of District 16 have come second to special interests and partisan politics. Unlike my opponent, I would have supported efforts toexpand healthcare, the evergreen clause, and Governor Lynch'sDrop-Out Prevention Plan."
NEA-NH is a state affiliate of the 3.2 million-member National Education Association. NEA New Hampshire is the largest union in New Hampshire.
The National Association of Social Workers works to increase public awareness about the need for adequate health and social services in New Hampshire.
AFT-NH is the State Affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers. The AFT has over a million members with over 3,600 members in New Hampshire which include teachers, school support staff, police, higher education faculty and town employees. AFT-NH is the second largest member of the New Hampshire AFL-CIO.
