Washington, DC -- The Political Action Committee (PAC) for the largest, grassroots peace organization, Peace Action, will run several full-page newspaper ads and dozens of 60 second radio ads in support of Congresswoman Shea-Porter (D NH-1) for Congress. The ads will also provide a presidential voter guide showing candidate differences on the Iraq occupation, Iran and nuclear weapons issues.
The print ads running in the NH Union Leader, Fosters Daily Democrat and the Laconia Citizen read: "Representative She-Porter voted to bring our troops home from Iraq and vows to take care of veterans when they return. She voted to stop wasting tax dollars on new nuclear weapons. She refused to support dangerous legislation that could have brought the U.S. closer to a disastrous and costly war with Iran." Similar text will be used in dozens of radio ads on The River 92.5, which covers most of the New Hampshire 1st congressional district.
Additionally, the ads will provide a link to Peace Action's presidential voter guide, which shows, among other issues, that Obama supports a timetable for troops to leave Iraq, while McCain disagrees with a timetable for responsible withdrawal of U.S. combat forces from Iraq.
"Peace Action PAC is proud to endorse Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter and to run ads letting New Hampshire voters know that she continue to vote to bring our troops home from Iraq and stop wasting tax dollars on new nuclear weapons," says Paul Kawika Martin, the director of Peace Action PAC.
Peace Action PAC is connected to Peace Action, the United States' largest peace and disarmament organization with over 100,000 members and nearly 100 chapters in 34 states, including New Hampshire Peace Action. The organization works for the abolition of nuclear weapons, promotes government spending priorities that support human needs and encourages real security through international cooperation and human rights. http://www.Peace-Action.org or http://www.PeaceVoter.org
