Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and Breathe NH are working together to raise awareness about the fourth leading killer in New Hampshire and the US, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). COPD is a serious lung condition that often develops in people who have risk factors such as being a current or former smoker or who have worked around chemicals. It’s sometimes referred to as chronic bronchitis and/or emphysema. Both organizations are teaming up with the national Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Foundation to offer the State’s first ever-free health screening targeting COPD. Anyone can be tested as part of this effort.
The free, non-invasive screening is being conducted Sunday, November 16, 2008 from 10 AM – 3 PM at the Puritan Conference Center, 245 Hooksett Road in Manchester. In addition to the screening, there will also be health presentations and exhibits and a flu shot clinic. For more information about COPD and the event visit www.breathenh.org.
