Environmentalist Will Address Sustainability, Living Locally,
Investing in the Wealth of Our Communities
Saturday—November 15th @ 2:00 PM
Noted environmentalist Bill McKibben will give a talk entitled "Energy and Our Future" Saturday November 15th at the First Congregational Church in Hopkinton. The author and educator will speak about the ideas developed in his latest book, Deep Economy: The Wealth of Communities and the Durable Future. Unlike some other environmental prophets, McKibben brings a message of hope concerning the immense reserves of social capital which may yet be invested to ensure a sustainable planet and more livable world.
Following the talk, participants will have the opportunity to break into small affinity groups for discussion.
McKibben's presentation is co-sponsored by two working groups of the NH Conference United Church of Christ: Spirituality and Earth Stewardship, and Economic Justice.
The talk is free and open to the public, with a special invitation to people of faith and/or those concerned about environmental responsibility and economic justice.
