Congresswoman Shea-Porter Embarks on USS New Hampshire Today

New Hampshire – Today, Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, embarked from Port Canaveral with a Congressional Delegation to the USS New Hampshire.

“New Hampshire is proud that the newest advanced submarine is named after the Granite State,” said Congresswoman Shea-Porter. “The men who serve on the USS New Hampshire devote their lives to this country. It was an honor to spend a day on the submarine with them, hear their stories, and see firsthand what they do each day to keep us safe. I am very grateful to them and their families.”

The USS New Hampshire is the fifth ship of the Virginia-class of attack submarines, capable of launching Tomahawk cruise missiles, torpedoes, and autonomous undersea vehicles from anywhere in the world. The New Hampshire is also equipped with cutting edge sonar systems and specialized accommodations for SEALs teams, the Navy's elite special operations component.

Congresswoman Shea-Porter is a strong supporter of our nation’s men and women in uniform. The Congresswoman attended both the Christening and Commissioning of the USS New Hampshire earlier this year.
