(Concord, N.H.) New Hampshire Department of Corrections Commissioner William L. Wrenn announced that Fred Nichols, a 14-year veteran correctional administrator was selected as Administrator of New Hampshire Correctional Industries. Administrator Nichols has worked for the Arizona, Idaho, and Oregon Corrections Departments. He will begin his new duties on December 5, 2008.
“Mr. Nichols brings sound skills in fiscal management, entrepreneurship, manufacturing operations, correctional security, inmate training, and an understanding of working within government systems,” Commissioner Wrenn said.
New Hampshire Correctional Industries is a self-funded operation within the NHDOC that includes training and manufacturing components. It provides job skills to approximately 300 inmates and reports about two-million dollars in sales annually. Its plants include the license plate, sign, print, and wood shops, furniture repair and manufacturing, and Information Technology. It also operates Corrections Creations, the corrections retail store.
