What: “Start! Walking Day” Press Conference
When: Tuesday, April 15, 2008 Noon-1: 00
Where: Capitol Grille, Concord, New Hampshire
Instead of thinking about taxes, join The American Heart Association and Top Heart Walk volunteers, company CEO’s and legislators on Tuesday, April 15 from noon until 1:00 for a “Start! Walking Day Press Conference.” Awards will be given to New Hampshire’s recipients of the National Fit Friendly Company Awards and attendees will be reminded to wear their sneakers to work for National “Start! Walking Day” which is the next day - April 16.
This press conference marks the second year of the free Start! Walking program in New Hampshire designed to get Americans walking during their workday. Walking is the easiest activity with the lowest drop out rate when compared to other forms of exercise. In fact, studies show that you can gain two hours of life expectancy for every hour of exercise (two-for-one). For this reason, employees at companies across NH will be encouraged to go out for a walk at 2:41 p.m. on “Start! Walking Day” on April 16. The Governor has signed a Start! Walking Day Proclamation. The American Heart Association will also announce the winners of the Fit Friendly Company designation.
Also highlighted will be the Central New Hampshire Start! Heart Walk on May 4 in Manchester and the Seacoast New Hampshire Start! Heart Walk on May 18, in Rye.
